
Kathie Novak earned her Master of Science in Management from the University of Colorado at Denver, and has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She is currently the Co-Director of Center for Local and Regional Communities in the Buechner Institute for Governance at the School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado at Denver. She is also a Special Member of the Graduate Faculty for the Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Colorado Denver. Kathie has experience in the private, public, and not for profit sectors. Kathie has recently become a certified Emergenetics associate.
Kathie served as a local elected official for the City of Northglenn, Colorado – 8 years as Mayor, and 10 years as a council member. During her time in public office, she was active in the National League of Cities, serving as President in 2009, Kathie held leadership positions in many organizations, including Chair of the Denver’s Metro Mayors Caucus, the Colorado Municipal League, the Denver Regional Council of Governments, and the Metro North Children’s Advocacy Center.
Ms. Novak consults in the areas of process facilitation, leadership development, management training, team building, and retreat facilitation. She has worked as an international consultant, specializing in program development, curriculum development, and training. Kathie has been a presenter and speaker at numerous conferences.
Her awards include “9NEWS Leader of the Year,” “Businesswoman of the Year,” awarded by the MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce, and the “Excellence in Teaching Award” from Regis University. Kathie is listed in many Who’s Who Publications, and was awarded an American Marshall Memorial Fellowship.
